Mission 1 – Drivers, Start Your Engines!

Unsurprisingly, the first leg of our European road trip involves a quick trip down to Dover to catch the ferry. It’s a pretty straightforward leg, and we have plenty of time to get there by taking things steady.
We’re on a 6 o’clock ferry to Dunkerque. There’s a comedy moment when the UK customs official sees the 530d’s tinted windows drop only to see two priests inside. She does everything she can to maintain a straight face, but it’s not happening! She checks our passports, wishes us a safe journey, and then we’re queuing for the boat.
Onboard, most are discussing the huge task ahead. By this stage we’ve learned that Craig and Rick, from Team Fastnet, are on the alternative route into France. So we’ll have to abandon our convoy plans for now, and just get on with it.
